The quest for smooth, hair-free skin has had its fair (okay, unfair in most cases) share of pain and suffering. Let’s say you have invested in an epilator that promises to make hair removal a more “pleasurable” experience with innovative features based on epilator reviews you’ve read. That is a great first step. However, to ensure that you epilating becomes less and less of a hurtful experience every time you do it; there are a couple of tried-and-tested methods you can go for.
First, if you are prone to bruising and swelling, you can take paracetamol at least half an hour before you epilate. Most waxing and epilating salons advise their clients to do this so there will be less pain for them during the process. It is also a good idea to take a warm bath prior to epilating unwanted hair. Doing this can render your skin softer and your pores to open, making it easier for hair to be yanked out. Just remember to pat the skin dry before epilating, because wet hair can prove to be hard to remove. (Some epilator brands are actually designed for use in the bath or shower, so you may want to look into those for added convenience.)
Prior to epilating, avoid using moisturizer on your skin, or deodorant on your arm pits as these can render the hair waxy and slippery.
